As admins, your organization probably has a lot of content and information already available, such as course IDs, usernames/passwords, 3rd party applications (SIS, licenses, etc.) and branding. Question is, how do you get them to work within Canvas?

Certain admin functions help to automate, integrate and import this information so you don't have to duplicate your system admin efforts.

Automate Processes

While you can administer everything in Canvas via the user interface (such as adding courses, resetting passwords, updating enrollments, etc.), this may prove to be quite time-consuming, especially for big organizations or schools with large enrollments. Canvas can help to automate many process with various APIs and code.

Integrate Platforms

Integrations can help leverage other 3rd party platforms and integrate them with Canvas. For instance, Canvas uses LDAP for authentication only. Authentication allows you to use your current user directories so users won't have to have a new username and password to user Canvas.

Canvas also integrates with other systems such as Turnitin and Equella, if you already have a license with these resources.

Also, the extensive App Center helps you leverage other 3rd party tools and bring them into Canvas (such as SoftChalk).

Import Data

Canvas can also import SIS data and SCORM objects.
