The Commons

You can share your course, or specific learning objects from your course (quiz, assignment, page, etc). This is a convenient way to share course content, such as a common assessment, with other instructors of the same or similar course.
If you share something to Commons that is public then students can access that if they have signed up for a Free for Teachers Canvas Account.
If you modify a resource that was previously shared to Commons, you can reshare the modified resource Links to an external site.to the Commons and the existing resource in Commons will be updated.

I've created and shared a Student Orientation Module that you can easily import into your course to add tutorials and activities to show your students how to use Canvas. Just search for "Garton" in the Commons.

What can I do with the Commons?

Locate specific content appropriate for your course: Search for relevant materials Links to an external site. and assemble courses without spending countless hours creating materials. You can search by tag, author, institution, title, outcome). You can filter the results by type (course, module, assignment, etc.), grade, latest. You can also access private groups on consortiums for which you are a member, whose shared content is not available to all users.
Instantly incorporate activities and content – The seamless integration of Canvas Commons and Canvas makes it simple and easy for users to import the best resources from Canvas Commons Links to an external site. into their courses on Canvas. You can preview the resources Links to an external site. before importing them.
Share a whole course or individual objects: A resource in Commons can be a whole Course, or a specific learning object (Module, Quiz, Assignment, Discussion, Page, Document, Video, Image, or Audio file).
Selectively share your content – Instructors can share publicly across the Commons community, or limit the availability of shared resources to only a select group (department), consortium (GOCSD), or public.
